Rock from Atlanta GA

Flower frontman Jack Fowler wrote Waste of Life while in a holding pattern. After a busy year signing to Other People Records as the vocalist for exwhy, sharing the stage with influential up-and-comers Pujol and Knox Hamilton, and becoming a notable player in the Atlanta music scene, Fowler turned his attention to showcasing his more vulnerable side with Flower’s new album Waste of Life (out Feb. 5). A raw and heartfelt soundscape, the album alternates between the ethereal and the down-to-earth gritty as Fowler pours his heart and soul into a brutally honest and surprisingly emotional collection of songs.

Physical and visceral, the music and lyrics call to mind the struggle of post-recession life as a Millennial. Waste of Life both romanticizes anxiety and champions hope—it’s an anthem to artistry and a simultaneous middle finger to the pressures of social decorum and the futility of modern professional pursuits. With a die-hard DIY ethos, Fowler unflinchingly pushes forth with a tireless work ethic, often writing and producing the band’s music, videos and lyrics himself.

San Francisco musical collective The Love Dimension steeped itself in the music of the psychedelic era of the '60s then infused it with the sound of ‘90s grunge and other more contemporary influences to create “mind-expanding music” for the 21st century. Resonating with the consciousness expanding goals of the ‘60s psychedelic movement, The Love Dimension “creates sonic architecture for the benefit of all sentient beings across the multi-verse.” A musical vision that reflects the personal journey of band founder Jimmy L. Dias who was on the path to becoming a shamanic healer when his own experiences of healing called him back to music. In 2008, while continuing his training as a healer, Jimmy set out to find the right players for The Love Dimension.

Psychedelic garage punk country surf may not be the most typical combination of genres that comprise a band; but then again, The Love Dimension is not your typical band. Formed in September 2008 around the Bay Area, their time together has been more than fruitful with at least one new release each year, their last spurt in late 2012 came after teaming up with SF label Warrior Monk Records and the London-based "Smoky Records" for the releases of "Forget the Remember" and "Not Until All Beings Are One." With gigs and festivals on both coasts under their belts, their twangy, ethereal sound's fan base is expanding rapidly, and for good reason. As their influences span the world over, The LD's sound nestles into a midway point between classically secure and radically inventive. Their aura radiates a feeling that strongly fits their name; every track has a musically adept top layer with an underlying foundation of positivity.
